.SYNOPSIS...
The heat will peak today with high temperatures 5 to 10 degrees
above average for inland areas. This will be followed by a gradual
cooling trend with high temperatures falling by 5 to 10 degrees
over the next week with high temperatures for Thursday of next
week a few to around 5 degrees below average for the coast,
valleys, and mountains and a few degrees above average for the
deserts. A marine layer near 1200 feet deep will deepen slightly
to around 1500 feet for the weekend into next week with night and
morning coastal

SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

.SHORT TERM (Today through Saturday)...
The heat will peak for most areas today with high temperatures 5
to 10 degrees above average for inland areas. High temperatures
will range from around 80 near the coast to the upper 90s to 106
for the Inland Empire with 114 to 118 for the lower deserts.

Heat Risk will be highest today, then slowly decrease into next
week. High temperatures today could be near or exceed records for
the date for Palm Springs, Indio, Thermal, and Borrego Springs.
For Palm Springs for today, NBM has a 94 percent chance for the
high temperature to tie or exceed the existing record of 116 with
a 64 percent chance to exceed that record.

High temperatures and Heat Risk will begin to slowly decrease on
Friday with that slow decrease continuing for the next week. High
temperatures on Saturday will be around average for the coast and
valleys and around 5 degrees above average for the deserts. High
temperatures on Saturday will range from the 70s near the coast to
the 90s to 102 for the Inland Empire with 110 to 114 for the
lower deserts.

The marine layer is around 1200 feet deep with patchy low clouds
and fog over the coastal waters extending inland into some coastal
areas with the fog locally dense near higher coastal terrain. The
marine layer will then slowly deepen to around 1500 feet for
Saturday with night and morning coastal low clouds and fog
returning to the far western valleys. Hazy skies will continue
for the next few days, mostly the result of smoke aloft.

.LONG TERM (Sunday through Wednesday)...
The slow cooling trend will continue for the next week with high
temperatures falling 5 to 10 degrees through Thursday of next
week with high temperatures for next Thursday a few to around 5
degrees below average for the coast and valleys with the deserts a
few degrees above average. High temperatures for Thursday of next
week will range from the lower to mid 70s near the coast to the
upper 80s to mid 90s for the Inland Empire with 105 to 110 for
the lower deserts.

The marine layer will be around 1500 feet deep with night and
morning coastal low clouds and fog extending into portions of the
western valleys late each night. There could be some increase in
monsoonal moisture during the middle of next week. NBM chances for
thunder for the mountains and deserts increase to 10 to 15
percent for Wednesday and Thursday. However chances for measurable
rainfall remain at less than 10 percent.

.AVIATION...
071000Z....Coasts...Low clouds based 400-700 ft MSL currently
filling into coastal San Diego County. Coastal Orange County may
briefly fill in 12-15z. Vis reduced 3-5SM where clouds are
present, except 0-2SM on mesas and coastal hills (including KCRQ).
Scatter out of any cigs Thursday 15-16Z. Low clouds Thurs night
will be similarly patchy, late to form after 08Z, and stay
confined to coastal areas and nearshore waters. Vis reductions
likely with any low cloud development.

Valleys/Mountains/Deserts...VFR conditions prevail through Friday
morning.

Smoke from area fires, mostly the Gifford Fire in Santa Barbara
County, will continue to be present at or above 10,000 feet MSL.
Surface conditions hazy but still VFR.

No hazardous marine conditions are expected through Monday.

Skywarn activation is not requested. However weather spotters are
encouraged to report significant weather conditions.

     Areas-Riverside County Mountains-San Bernardino County
     Mountains-San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys-The

     Valleys-Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills.

     Extreme Heat Warning until 8 PM PDT Friday for Coachella Valley-
     San Diego County Deserts-San Gorgonio Pass near Banning.
